Project
Denison University is teaming with The Collaborative to develop renovation plans for the historic Doane Administration building. Designed by J.W. Yoste in the French Romanesque Revival style in 1894, the building incorporates Oakland pressed brick and Amherst stone and is included in a group of Granville structures inventoried by the National Register of Historic Places.
The college recently completed an Academic Facilities Master Plan and identified the building as a solution to deficiencies in classroom and Academic Department space. The renovated facility will house the Computer Science and Data Analytics programs along with an Interdisciplinary Technology Center creating an Interdivisional Analysis hub on the Academic Quad.
The goal of the project is to establish forward-looking functional spaces within the historic character of the building by working with the current students and faculty on design and character to ensure the building’s ability to handle the rapid growth of these programs.
