Project

Columbus Academy, an independent school, approved an extensive campus transformation to realign programs and spaces to better support strategic goals. Approximately 38,000 SF of new instructional and multipurpose spaces were created along with an additional 53,000 SF reconfigured and renovated.

New wings on each side of Academy Hall provide more space for the Middle School and Upper School. Van Syckel Hall received an addition to provide more space for grades 6-8 including two classrooms and a new library. Morris Hall was renovated to become the new visual arts center, including a new art studio, gallery spaces and updated technology department and administrative offices. Band and orchestra areas were renovated with new practice rooms, storage space and acoustical improvements to existing classrooms.

The dining hall was expanded on the east side to offer greater flexibility for special events. Minor improvements across campus upgrade the student and visitor experience, such as a new entry vestibule on the north entry.

The Collaborative’s role began with the master planning effort and moved directly into design and implementation of more than 90,000 SF of improvements.
