Project
The City of Bowling Green teamed with The Collaborative and Poggemeyer Design Group to design and construct a new administrative facility on the site of the former Senior Center, previously located in the historic Bowling Green post office. Inclusion of the preserved 1914 grand façade of the post office is a signature feature in the building’s design.
The first floor of the new buildingl includes council chambers and administrative offices including the tax department, planning and grants, utilities and public works. The mayor’s office, law, finance and IT departments are located on the second floor and open to the council chambers below.
The project permanently closed Oak Street in order to accommodate the new facility, as well as the surrounding green space and additional adding parking.
Working through an extensive preconstruction phase, the project team successfully achieved crucial budget and schedule goals during a tumultuous market.
