Project
The Student Academic Services (SAS) Building and Lane Avenue Parking Garage (LAPG) together define a major north gateway to The Ohio State University. Completed in 2010, the project transformed a former surface parking lot at Lane Avenue and Tuttle Park Place into a compact, integrated development totaling more than 576,000sf.
The 127,400sf SAS building provides a bright, modern office environment for student services, oriented north to maximize daylight while avoiding glare. Large expanses of glass create open, transparent workspaces, while adjacency to the garage shields the building’s southern wall and provides thermal benefits by absorbing heat during the day and releasing it at night. Direct access between the garage and offices creates rare convenience and protection from Ohio weather.
The 449,160sf parking garage doubles as a visual landmark for the campus. Illuminated in scarlet light at night, it announces the gateway from as far away as the Olentangy River. Together, SAS and LAPG represent a functional, efficient, and highly visible entry point for the university.
