Project
To continue the growth of their College of Business’ national standing, Kent State University embarked on a journey with The Collaborative and Perkins&Will to develop a larger, tech-forward facility to encourage student success, recruit top faculty, and foster interaction with national business leaders. Designed to facilitate interaction among students, faculty and the business community from all of the world, the 145,000sf building broadens opportunities and encourages a global perspective by enabling speakers to join a class from any nation or time zone.
Home to the Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation, the Global Management Center and the Business Analytics Lab, the active learning spaces feature state-of the-art teaching technology, video labs, videoconferencing studios, analytics labs, a behavioral lab and a high-tech trading lab that stands as the atrium centerpiece. A Student Success Center is also incorporated to allow students to access all of their support services in one location.
In addition to being technology rich, Crawford Hall was designed to embrace the future with flexible, adaptable spaces that can transform over time; encourage user well-being through a healthy, resilient and sustainable environment; and extend campus by creating a new North Gateway. The project is targeting LEED Silver and Fitwell Certification.
