Project
Ohio State University’s Student Family Community Center at Buckeye Village was conceived as a dual-purpose facility serving graduate students and their families. The 28,322sf building integrates a daycare scaled to preschool children with a community center for adults, creating a supportive, multi-generational environment.
The two functions occupy distinct wings, connected through a shared central court that acts as the building’s social heart. Inside, daylight, open circulation, and interior “streets” link floors and activities while encouraging interaction. Outside, materials and forms echo the surrounding residential buildings, while the central metal-clad volume distinguishes the facility as a landmark.
By combining childcare and community amenities under one roof, the project strengthens Buckeye Village as a welcoming, family-oriented community for graduate students.
